2 weeks past
I know, I know I’m REALLY late in my 2 week blog post. Sorry about that. Lots has happened in the last 1.5 weeks, but I’m only going to tell you about what happened between weeks 1 and 2 🙂 otherwise what would I blog about for the 3 week post?
The puppies continue to have visitors last weekend including some repeat visitors from the weekend prior and some new. These aren’t just any visitors, these are people anxiously awaiting to see which puppy might be theirs in the coming weeks. They are closely watching each puppy and analyzing personality. Although, this early, it’s hard to tell much. Those puppies I reported on last week, the ones who were noisy (yellow and lavender girls) have quieted down and don’t make much of a ruckus at all anymore. I think it might be due to the BioSensor program and teaching them how to handle stress. The whelping box generally is pretty quiet unless Mama is nearby and they are ready to eat.
4th of July was pretty uneventful. I got to stay home with them for the day which was really nice. I can see the city fireworks from my backyard so I didn’t have to leave to see them. I left the kitchen door open so that they could be exposed to the vibrations of the BOOMs. Had it they been a week older, they could have HEARD them. Oh well.
By the end of the week, their eyes were starting to open and by Monday, all but one had their eyes wide open! They are still fuzzy and mostly what they see are shapes and light. They can see me waving my hands and fingers in front of them.
They were also starting to walk. They were pretty wobbly and would take a few steps then fall over. They would get pretty fast at those steps then trip over themselves. Now that they can see and move around better, they are also starting to play with each other.
Here is video of them at 12 days old moving around and playing. That’s pink girl almost crawling out. It makes sense that she was the first born and the first to attempt to crawl out of the whelping box. She was also the first to try to crawl out of the holding box too. AND she’s the littlest puppy!
On Monday, while attempting to take the 2 week photos, I let the puppies out on the kitchen floor by themselves. Some of them wandered off into the kitchen to explore, some stayed on the blanket and cried, some explored and cried when they got too far away and couldn’t’ find their way back at which point, I sent Roxie in to get them. She would sniff them and the would follow her back.
That’s pretty much it for week two. Next week gets more interesting as they can see better, begin to hear, and move around much better. They will also go on adventures and explore new things. Stay tuned.
Be sure to check out the latest photos in the puppy gallery. Also, to keep up on what’s happening during the week and to see some of the fun snapshots, be sure to visit my Facebook page.
Hope you all have a great weekend. I hope to have the week 3 blog up much sooner than this one.
