4/20/10 – Day 28, the signs say…
Well, today is day 28 and I can see slight changes in Roxie. Her teats (am I spelling that right?) are definitely getting bigger but aren’t really swelling like I have seen them do before in her first heat cycle. No baby bump yet either.
HOWEVER, this last weekend she lost her appetite. Roxie loves to eat. She wolfs down her food in less than a minute. But this weekend, she just didn’t seem interested. She would take a mouth full and bring it into the living room to eat. It took her all night to eat her dinner. The next day, her breakfast was still there at dinner time. I asked Liz about this and she wasn’t concerned and said it was… get this… MORNING SICKNESS!! OMG, dogs get morning sickness?! I guess anything is possible. The body has to make adjustments somehow. As of now (6:41 pm) most of her breakfast is still in her bowl. Liz says it will pass and then she will be extra hungry! The funny thing is, she gets just as antsy and excited around feeding time and goes through all the motions of sitting and waiting to be released to eat, then she takes a couple bites and is done. That’s pretty much all for the Roxie update. It was raining today to the Day 28 photo was taken in my kitchen. BTW, have I mentioned how proud I am that I can stack her and leave her standing there so I can go take a picture? She’s such a good girl.
Well, that’s all for now! Thanks for reading. Have a great week!
We raced to find your blog as you said you were about to post it….my daughter, 8 y.o, reads about Roxie’s appetite and then goes running screaming to her 12 (going on 16) y.o. brother in the shower, “Roxie has morning sickness”-I do think the WHOLE neighborhood heard her-her vocal chords shook Santa Monica when she was born!
We will keep fingers and paws crossed (and we have several of them: 2 dogs, 4 cats, 2 bearded dragons).
