5/18/10 – Day 56, There are HOW MANY???
Well today was x-ray day and what did I see when I looked at the x-ray?? I saw a whole mess of spines! When Dr. Metzler started counting, 1…2…3… 9…10..11………..12? Holy CRAP! She counted 11 and possibly a 12th puppy spine! OMG that is a HUGE litter. This is going to be a lot of work for Liz and I just hope I will be able to get over there as much as possible to help her.
Due Date Update: I had originally been saying 65 days based on the last breeding date which would be May 26th. However, apparetnly it’s more like 63 days and you’re supposed to start on the first breeding so that means anywhere between the 22nd and the 25th! With larger litters, they tend to run out of room and they come early but I hope they come later because I have unbreakable plans this weekend and I DO NOT want to miss the arrival of these puppies!
Here is her profile picture for the week taken just before the x-ray photo. She continues to grow and will no doubt get even bigger over her last week. If you look at the picure, there is a large lump right smack in the middle of her side. I think that’s a puppy (or two).
After the x-ray appointment we headed to Liz’s. I handed my girl off to Liz for the remaining of her pregnancy and for the first five weeks of the puppies’ lives. I will really miss her while she is gone. Fortunately, there is another small furry thing awaiting to take her spot on the couch and in my lap. Cheeto will be happy for a few weeks.
These will be the last pictures of Roxie until I get up there on delivery day. Maybe if you ask Liz really nicely, she will take a few pics of Roxie with her mama Rayn, grandma Willow and brother Lyric :).
*NOTE.. while I’m at Liz’s, I won’t have much access to the computer so most of my posts and pics will be directly to Facebook via my phone until I get home and have a chance to blog.
Oh my gosh look at all those little heads in there! Well you should have some blues in for sure. It will be fun to see how the colors come out. Nan
OH MY GOSH! I can’t imagine that many puppies! I just bred Roxie’s half sister Olivia. I HOPE she doesn’t have that many. That’s like two litters!
I hope all goes well with Roxie whelp and look forward to seeing updates and photos!
