7/3/10 – Puppies 6 weeks
Went to see the puppies for the last time this weekend. Tate and I went together so I could bring the RV home today. They are 6 weeks old now and next week, we will have evaluations here at my house and then they will begin going home. Once again, I tried to spend quality time with as many as I could. I haven’t found one yet that isn’t willing to snuggle and go to sleep in my arms. Roxie is still conflicted wanting to be near her babies but too overwhelmed to actually do so, so I try to give her 1-2 at a time so she can mother them.
You can see in the video that she is trying to teach them to stay away from her teets, but there are just too many of them. Perhaps an experienced mother would have more tollerance for them as she teaches them manners, but for her first litter, she’s tired.
Liz has been working with the pups two at a time taking them on little walks around the yard getting them to follow her. I tried a few times as well, but with Roxie there, all they want to do is follow her and all she wants to do is get away so following ME is out of the question.
Here is video and photos from the weekend visit. You’ll notice a lot more photos of Tate and I this time. Since we both had camera’s we took the opportunity to take some shots of each other with the puppies. Enjoy!
Oh I think she’s doing a wonderful job with the pups.
