and the waiting begins…
and the waiting begins…
Breeding days two and three went well. Roxie and Charley did very well and we should have a great chance for puppies in approximately 63 days. But first, the next date to look forward to is March 20th which is her ultrasound appointment. Hopefully the vet will be able to take a peek and see what’s happening and get an idea of how many are in there.
In the meantime, Roxie will spend the next few days relaxing and giving the little guys a chance so make themselves comfy and prepare for growth. As you can see above, Roxie has no problem relaxing. Next week sometime, we will hopefully resume our weekly running schedule so that we both can stay in our routine. A pregnant female needs to stay healthy and in shape so she can be strong through whelping.
I will spend the next 63 days preparing the house for puppies, interviewing candidates and trying to contain my excitement.

As a side note, on the day off between breeding #2 & #3, we ventured up Charley’s chukar hunting moutains to check out the view. The road was steep and in places muddy so we didn’t venture up very far. Here is a couple pics taken up there. We are looking forward to coming back to Surprise Valley next fall for some chukar hunting with Charley!
