Is she glowing?
Well it’s been eight days since the first mating. Roxie is doing well although by the looks of this photo, she’s not all that happy with me. I’ve been working a lot lately so have not had enough couch snuggle time with her. But she doesn’t have it that bad, she has a bed right next to me in the office. Usually she moves it to right behind me so that I can’t move my chair and get up. MUST BE AS CLOSE TO MAMA AS POSSIBLE!!!
The next milestone is March 20th for the scheduled ultra-sound. I was hoping that the vet would be able to take a peek inside to see how many walnuts are growing in there. But based on a lot of feeback from other breeders as well as the vet herself the only thing she can tell me for sure is that she is (or is not) pregnant. At that stage there could be a bunch of walnuts that are hiding as well as some of those walnuts could be re-absorbed so there’s no way to really get an accurate count. We didn’t do an ultra-sound the last breeding so I may opt out of it this time. She should be showing in the 4th week anyway. Of course, the same could be said for false pregnancy. At this time, I’m keeping the ultra-sound appointment and will decide when we get a little closer.
Until then, I will be slowly increasing her diet and supplementing her vitamins to ensure that we have healthy puppies. I’ll continue to post each week her progress.
I will also be reviewing questionnaires and interviewing candidates over the next few weeks. With so many wonderful families looking for a puppy, I think this is the hardest part so far.
That’s all for now. Have a great rest of your week!!
