Meeting Charley…
and the Adventure Begins…
Well, it was a long drive but Mom and I made it! I left Sacramento at about 8:30 am, arrived in Anderson to pick up mom at 11:20 then we were off to Cedarville another 3 hrs away. We arrived and were happily greeted by Charley’s owner Sue, Charley and his sister the black lab.
But first, I have to say that the drive into Suprise Valley was just beautiful. It was partly cloudy with the sun peaking through to shine onto the yellow fields of hay. I stoppped to take photos of the valley in 360 view. View the slideshow below:
The Meeting
Roxie was very anxious to meet Charley. I think she could smell him from a mile away as she got excited and started bouncing around. When we arrived, we let her out to potty and stretch her legs before the actual meeting.
Once they actually got to met, they chased each other around the yard for a few minutes before Charley realized there was business to be done. This was his first time so there was some question as to what he was supposed to do. Where does it go? Her ear? No. Her ribs? No. Her… NO NOT THERE!!! Oh wait, there it goes! It took 13 minutes for Charley to catch Roxie and keep her. Then another 25 minutes to finish. We were all tired by the end from chasing them around and holding them together so they don’t hurt each other.
Below is a slideshow of photos taken during the breedings and pregnancy. This slideshow will grow each time however the newest photos will be first so you can stop the show when you get to pics you have seen before.
Tomorrow is another day. We’ll see how it goes. Easier I hope!
